Quote:
“Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.”………. King Whitney Jr.
Goal: Change an unwanted behavior
Action: Identify behavior and write down what happens before and after. Begin to understand why you act in certain ways in certain situations.
I’ve been thinking a lot about change and why it is so scary to some. I found the quote by King Whitney, Jr., Civil Rights activist to be helpful because it illustrates how one’s attitude about the word, one’s perception shapes one’s thinking on the subject of change.
Zig Ziglar speaks about attitude and I tend to agree with what he has to say in his podcast. For example, in regard to change, what if one developed the attitude that change is useful, an opportunity for growth versus having a resistant notion to change? Developing an attitude that change is good takes nothing more than practice. It takes reshaping one’s thoughts and becoming a little better today than yesterday about recognizing when one’s attitude reverts to old ways of being. If you have any suggestions to post on the subject of change, or additional quotes to add to this site, BTGT would love to hear from you!
