I am celebrating my dad’s 93rd birthday; on March 21st; and my sister’s 66th birthday today! I am 49 on April 18th; and am having a definite mid-life crisis on turning 50 in 2009!! I am very interested in how my “genes” will affect the aging process. I have often said, of my father, that his sense of humor is the “secret” to old age. I am not sure if this is true, but I remember that my whole life, my father has had an attitude that is expectant of living to 120! I can only hope that my attitude and perseverence can match my his. He is the most extraordinary human being ever! And, I am not saying that just because he is my father!! His name is Freeman. I get a big “kick”out of his name. His mother, Della Dalton. He likes to tell how when he was born he weighed 3 lbs and fit in a shoebox. He was born in Albany, KY in 1915, to an unwed mother. He and his mother and one older sister lived in a log cabin behind the grandparents home. It is tobacco country. I like to joke that I am part “hillbilly” but this is true! My dad always told me we were related to the “Dalton Gang” and that we are part Cherokee…I love my dad’s stories! I never tire of listening to them. Please write me about your extraordinary family stories! I have to admit that I like to watch the Today show and see all of the people who are turning 100 or over 100 each day.
